Emerald might draw its name from the lush green pastures that surround the town, but it is still considered the jewel of Queensland’s Central Highlands. Established in 1879 as a base for building the western railway, Emerald is now a prosperous rural centre and gateway to one of the largest sapphire fields in the southern hemisphere. Emerald grew very rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s as a base for major coal mines in the nearby Bowen Basin. With so many employment opportunities, it’s no surprise that the property market also continues to thrive in this large country town.

Why Do You Need Emerald Conveyancing Services?

Conveyancing is the legal process for transferring ownership of a property’s title from one person to another. Property law is complex and both the buyer and seller are required to complete a range of legal documents before the transaction is finalised. Even a simple mistake with these documents could lead to expensive complications which is why you need a professional conveyancing solicitor to manage the process.

A conveyancer is there to advise you of your rights and responsibilities and deal with any legal issues that may arise during property transactions. Their services include reviewing the contract of sale, conducting vital searches on the property, and preparing and lodging transfer documents with the relevant authorities. Where is Emerald?

Emerald is a rural town in Central Queensland located about 240km west of Rockhampton at the junction of the Capricorn and Gregory Highways. It is the headquarters for the Central Highlands Regional Council.

What Does Emerald Have To Offer?

This large country town has become the hub of the Central Highlands and the gateway to Outback Queensland. It is a thriving rural centre with a large number of industries in the area, including coal mining and cotton growing, which support local employment. Emerald is a great place for families to make a home with a range of good schools, modern sporting and recreation venues, and affordable housing.

Emerald has a proud history which is still celebrated today at the National Trust-listed Railway Station. Built in 1900 at the end of the Victorian era and restored in 1986, the station features wrought iron lacework and pillared portico. It’s a spectacular sight to behold – as is the ancient fossilised tree that’s found at the Emerald Town Hall and is estimated to be over 250 million years old.

Emerald used to be a major sunflower producer and the town is now home to the world’s biggest Vincent Van Gogh sunflower painting. Measuring 25 metres high with approximately 13.6 tonnes of steel used in its construction, this masterpiece can be found on an easel in Morton Park.

Lake Maraboon is a tranquil lake that is located just a short drive away from Emerald so it makes for the perfect day trip from the town. The lake is larger than Sydney Harbour and its waters have become a popular leisure haunt for Emerald locals. Spend a day fishing with eight different kinds of fish including barramundi, golden perch, silver perch and red claw crayfish. Swimming, waterskiing, jet skiing and kayaking are also popular activities at Lake Maraboon.
