ATO Clearance Certificates

For properties with a purchase price over $750,000 an ATO Clearance certificate must be provided by the seller to the buyer prior to settlement.

Failure to provide an ATO Clearance certificate to the buyer before settlement results in the buyer being obligated to pay 12.5 % of the purchase price to the tax office on the seller’s behalf.

The Australian Tax Office reserves the right to take up to 28 days to process a request so the earlier the certificate is applied for the better.
